UCAS Applications
For UCAS Undergraduate Applications:
- Go to https://www.ucas.com/ and sign in or create a profile.
- Click your name (top right) → Your Hub.
- In Your Applications, click Add application → select ‘What type of application would you like to make?
- On your application page, find the Education section.
- Click Add place of education.
In the name box, type:
A Star GCSE Equivalency → press the space bar three times → Enter/Return.
- A button will appear – click Add “A Star GCSE Equivalency”.
- Complete the form:
- Exam centre number: leave blank
- Start/finish dates: date of your exam
- Study type: select Part-time
- Study mode: online
- Address: only City/Town and Country is needed
- Click Save (ignore any centre number warnings).
- You’ll see a message: “Place of education entry updated successfully.”
- Under your new entry, click Add qualification.
- In the search box, type Other → select Other (UK Qualifications).
- Complete the form:
- Subject/title: e.g. A Star GCSE (subject) Equivalency
- Qualification date: enter your exam date
- Awarding organisation: type Astarequ
- Result: enter your grade
- No module title needed
- Click Save qualification.
- Repeat for each subject if you have more than one.
- Once finished, click Save this section.
For UCAS Postgraduate Applications:
- Go to https://www.ucas.com/ and sign in.
- Click your name (top right) → Preferences.
- Under Manage my Hub personalisation, scroll to What level of study are you interested in?
- Choose Postgraduate (Returning to uni to continue study, or apprenticeships) → click Save.
- Follow steps from Step 4 onwards in the Undergraduate instructions above.

If you've followed the steps above but still can't enter your A Star Equivalency qualification, don't worry - we'll help you sort it out.
